Derek Andre Pearson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 31, 1961. He departed this life on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at AHAVA Health Care in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Derek received his formal education in the Philadelphia Public School Systems, later attending Penn State University. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending the Upper Room Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When he moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, he became a member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Delbert R. Brown.
Derek enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. in 1979, receiving a Rifle marksman Badge and an Honorable Discharge.
Derek was employed for many years with Home Instead Senior Care. He enjoyed watching wrestling, sports, and listening to music.
He leaves to cherish his memories parents Ursella (Gilbert) Mathis, sisters, Jacquelyn Pearson (Timothy Gary), Tara Better, Krystal (Aussie) Thaxter, nieces Chambri Pearson, Kenya (Jalen) James, Gabrielle Better, Qrystil Thaxter, nephews, Michael Pearson, Kristian (Kiana) Mathis, great nephews, Noah Pearson, Noble Pearson, Broderick Mathis, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
