Erma Batson Hockett

Mrs. Erma Batson Hockett, age 98, of Clarksville, Tennessee departed this life on September 21, 2023, to eternal rest. Erma was born on September 10, 1925, in Clarksville, TN. She was educated in the Montgomery School System. In 1947, Erma married James Henry Hockett in Springfield, Tennessee. Together they built their family & home in Clarksville, Tennessee with their (3) daughters.

Erma accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN.

Erma loved most spending time with her beloved family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. All who knew her loved her and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Her hobbies included: Spending time with family, she enjoyed attending/selling at local flea markets, playing cards with family and friends, and dancing and having fun. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim Nick & Alice Clark Batson; a beloved daughter Linda “Puddin” Bagwell/Bennett; her son-in-law James Cossingham; (3) brothers: O'Dean, Garner, and Sylvester Batson, and (5) sisters: Magdalene Ransom, Maude Cooke, Marie Edwards, Dorothy Burress, and Dimples Cardwell. (2) granddaughters, Jasmin Hodge, and Toyree Watkins.  

Left to cherish her memories: Her devoted daughters: Beverly Hockett Cossingham "Tina" and Trudy Hockett Smith (William), (4) grandchildren: Shawana Bagwell, James D. Hockett (Dietra), Darrick Cossingham (Irene) and Tywana Marlow. (9) great grandchildren, (4) great great grandchildren, her sister Mrs. Jewell Burks (Paul), sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances Worthy and Mrs. Sadie Hines, her surrogate family Herb (Sallie) Baggett and family. And a host of nieces & nephews, as well as a long list of friends.
