James Willis “Chuck” Merriweather began his life journey on June 22, 1942, in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was the beloved son of Mr. Dennis and Emma Thomas Merriweather and accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Spring Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, he became a member of First Baptist Church in Elkton, Kentucky.
Chuck's early education took place in public schools until the eighth grade, after which he dedicated his time to helping his family on their farm.
In 1964, he married Margaret Garrett, and together they welcomed three sons and a daughter. In 1977, Chuck found love again with Earlene Syndor Merriweather, and this union blessed him with two daughters. Both Margaret and Earlene preceded him in death.
For over 37 years, Chuck thrived in his career at Lester Ellis Plumbing as a backhoe operator. He took great joy in his work and cherished the moments spent playing 5up with his “STACKER DRIVE CREW”. Above all, he treasured the time spent with family and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and his daughter Jessie R. Hoosier.
On July 15, 2025, James transitioned from labor to reward. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories, cherished by his children: James Willis Merriweather Jr., Greg (Nita) Merriweather, Brian Merriweather, Stevie (Peggy) Garrett, Warren (Valeria) Garrett, Timothy Thomas, Beverly (Shawn) Jackson, Jennifer (Daniel) Merriweather, Jasmine Merriweather; his brother, Porter (Sandra) Merriweather; his sister, Mary Patterson; 20 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Chuck will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
