Mr. Jimmy Porter was born July 31, 1949, to the proud parents Arthur Bailey and Mrs. Margaret Porter in Clarksville, Tennessee. He entered eternal rest on Monday, April 22, 2024 at TriStar Stonecrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tennessee.
Jimmy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with St. Peter A.M.E Church.
Jimmy received his education in the Clarksville Montgomery County School System. He was a proud 1967 and graduate of the Historic Burt High School
In 1969 Jimmy united in holy matrimony to Mary Porter. There were three children born to this union. Jimmy was employed by Nortel Company for many years and was blessed to retire to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Jimmy loved sports and was an avid Tennessee Titan and Chicago Bulls fan. He was a bodybuilder, coach, a motivator, and encourager to his children and grandchildren during their athletics activities. He was the life of the party with his comedic talents. Jimmy also enjoyed singing and dancing, he was a good cook and loved spending quality time with his family and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by parents, Arthur Bailey and Margaret Porter, brothers: LeRoy Bellamy Porter and Jessie Porter and a grandson: Joe Bass III.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter- Angelea (Joe) Bass, sons- Jimmy Porter Jr. and Michael (Paula)Porter. Grandchildren- Pennee Johnson, DeAndre Porter, Shaunia Betty, BreAnna Rucker, Nianda Glover, Alyssia hale, Kayla Porter. Sisters- Hattie Tapp, Shirley Porter, Jean Porter and Diane Porter. Brothers- Robert (Teresa) Porter and Tyrone Porter, 10 Greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
