Reverend John Wesley Hill Nicholson, was born on March 23, 1954 in Clarksville, Tennessee to parents; Wes Nicholson and Alice Irene Hill.
He departed this life tragically on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Rev. John Hill-Nicholson accepted Christ at an early age and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, he later united with Cabin Row Missionary Baptist Church.
John Served his Country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
He was educated in the Clarksville Montgomey County Schools and was a proud graduate of Clarksville High School Class of 1973. He was a stand-out athlete in football and wrestling receiving several awards, plaques, and trophies. John continued his education on a higher level by attending Austin Peay State University and later he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Hopkinsville College of the Bible in Hopkinsville Kentucky.
John loved spreading God’s Word. He hosted a Radio Ministry on Sunday Mornings Co-hosted by Terrell Broady for several years.
Rev. Hill-Nicholson, became a licensed ordained minister under the pastorship of Rev. Joe Babb. He received his first appointment as Pastor at Ogburn Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served for a number of years. Currently, Rev. Hill-Nicholson served as associate minister at Cabin Row Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor James Trotter.
Rev. Hill-Nicholson was formerly married to Phyllis Ramey Hill and to this union they were blessed with two beautiful children; Ebone` and Markus.
John loved his children and loved playing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and CRUISING around town.
John was a man with many job titles. He worked at Trane Plant, Palmyra Rehabilitation Center, and was mostly remembered as a Deputy with Montgomery County Sherriff Department. He also held several positions with the Tennessee Department of Corrections. He retired and recently started a new career as a Case Manager at GEO Reentry Services.
He was preceded in death by parents, sister, Alyce Davie- Martin, and his nephew, Chris Davie.
He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his memory; children; Ebone Hill and Markus (Martina) Hill, both of Clarksville. brother: Elbert Hill, grandchildren; Amari, Amiah, Markus Hill, Angelica, Siajovay, Chanin, K’Ani Krislan and a devoted companion, Dawn Hussey-Riggs, a host of other loved ones and dear friends. Visitation Tuesday, November 2, 2021, 3-7pm. Funeral Service Wednesday, November 3, 2021, 12:00 noon at Hooker Funeral Home. Interment Rossview Cemetery.
