Mary Alice Townsend-Parker

March 4, 1950 — August 16, 2022

Age 72, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Viewing Saturday, August 20, 2022, 11:00am - 2:00pm with funeral to follow at Hooker Funeral Home. Burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mary A. Parker, daughter of James and Pearl Townsend was born March 4, 1950 on their farm in Montgomery County. She was the baby of 10 and found Christ at an early age and maintained her love and work for HIM incessantly throughout her life. Mary was a founding and active member of Greater St. James Baptist Church until her illness.

 Mary was educated in the Montgomery County School Systems, graduating from the Historic Burt High, Class of 1968. She attended Austin Peay State University and graduated in 1980 with a degree in Nursing. In 2006, she graduated from AIU with a degree in Health Care Management.

 

Our mother spent most of her nursing career at Clarksville Memorial Hospital/Gateway in the PACU (Recovery Room). She then went on to start the Bariatric Clinic at the hospital, that is still up and functioning today. Mom also taught CNA classes periodically during her nursing career as well as BLS/ACLS. She retired from Gateway Hospital in 2006.

 

During her retirement, she was a founding member and past president of the GOLDEN GIRLS SOCIAL CLUB. Mom enjoyed arts and crafts and had a beautiful eye to envision a project with a GIFTED hand to create it.

 

Mary leaves to cherish her memory~ Son-James R. Parker (Tamara), Daughters- Shekitta Parker and Selinna Neal. Grandchildren-Janay(Davon) Coleman, Bria(DaJuan)Williams, Austin Johnson, Zaria Neal, Roderick Parker, Xenia Parker, Isaiah Parker and Alivia Parker. Great grandson-Nicholas R. Coleman. Sister-Lee Esther(Lindell)Jones. Loving friends-Delores Collins, Patricia Hagewood, and Karen Dearing and a host of nieces and nephews.
