Sherry Katherine Northington

Sherry Katherine Northington transitioned to peace at home with her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 19, 2025. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at 10 years of age at Springhill Baptist Church, Clarksville, TN. She later rededicated her life to Jesus along with her two sons at Westgate Christian Center under Pastor Kenneth Smith.

Sherry attended Clarksville, Montgomery County schools and was a 1981 graduate of Northwest High School, Clarksville, TN.

Sherry was employed by Austin Peay State University for almost 11 years. She was a waitress and cook at various restaurants in the community. She worked at Shoney’s, Applebee’s, and G’s Pancake House until her well-being declined, and she could not work any longer. She enjoyed her work and always treated her customers the same no matter what amount of tip she received.

Sherry was an excellent cook. She took immense joy in cooking for her family and their raves about her food. She loved to read. Her best reading was the Word of God and talking to family and friends about what was happening in the world and what the Bible has to say about it.

She was born September 30, 1963, in Clarksville, TN to Canary Northington. She was the daughter of Dave Elliott. Sherry is preceded in death by her mother and father, her maternal grandparents Lynn Howard and Ellen Relerford Howard, her paternal grandparents Melvin Elliott and Ruby Griffin Elliott, her son Joshua Northington, brothers Robert Northington Sr., Kevin Northington, and her niece Jevita Hale.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Lekita Northington, son Kareem Northington, grandsons Terrez Brown, Jatias Elliott, Baeshawn Norris, Aaron, Tremaine Horner and Amir Meriweather, granddaughters Kaliyah and Amaya McClain, and her great-grandson Nauj’jor Norris who was adored by her, her sisters, Marsha (Robert Jr) Duncan, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Hale, Aunt Doris Bennett and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
