Shontel Latrice Lawrence, age 50, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Born on January 22, 1975, in Russellville, Kentucky, she was cared for by Simon Kendrick and Sylvia Lawrence, Susanna and Lewis Schwartz, Sr. and Barbara Thompson
In 1993, she graduated from Florin High School in Sacramento, California. On August 2, 1993, Shontel enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During her time of service, she received numerous awards: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Military Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Valor. On January 5, 2003, Shontel was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force. In 2004, she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Faulkner University, and Master of Social work from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009. In 2010, Shontel relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee to work at Fort Campbell as a Wounded Warrior Advocate and social worker. She retired in 2015 to develop her own mentor and coaching business.
Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and sense of humor endeared her to everyone that she met. Shontel was very loving, a true woman of strong faith, and a beautiful inspiration. She found joy in helping others through volunteerism, mentorship and fellowship in relation to education, business, and self-development. Some of her hobbies include reading, cooking, action movies, and home interior decorating.
Preceded in death by her parents Simon Kendrick and Sylvia Lawrence, and Susanna and Lewis Schwartz, Sr.; and brother, Michael Tarrence. Shontel is survived by her wonderful son, Gabriel I. Bullock; brother, Lewis (Esther) Schwartz (Auburn, KY); sisters, Ava Marie Schwartz (Auburn, KY), Dorothy (Arland) Overholt (Auburn, KY), Becky (Ken) Eash (Woodburn, KY), and Roslie (Nate) Overholt (Abbeville, SC), Danielle Robinson (Durham, NC) and a host of family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Shontel Latrice Lawrence, let us remember and honor the impact she had on our lives, community and nation. May her soul rest in eternal peace and may the memories we shared bring comfort during this difficult time.
